These portraits are precious and precarious. I read the light and extend the bellows and focus the lens and (hold still) change the dark slide and remove the lens cap and expose the paper and hope - hope - that I’ve been careful enough.
But no matter how much care I take, things can still go wrong.
This project was made thanks to the generous support of The Richard and Siobhan Coward Foundation. The lens I used was based on one invented by my distant ancestor, William Hyde Wollaston.
The work was made during my DIY Carer’s Residency (2025).
