These portraits are precious and precarious. I read the light and extend the bellows and focus the lens and (hold still) change the dark slide and remove the lens cap and expose the paper and hope - hope - that I’ve been careful enough.
But no matter how much care I take, things can still go wrong.
This project was made thanks to the generous support of The Richard and Siobhan Coward Foundation. The lens was based on one invented by my distant ancestor, William Hyde Wollaston.
The work was made during my DIY Carer’s Residency (2025).
